Day Three: Complete!

Alright, alright.  I’ve been pretty mia today.  I didn’t get to bed until past 2am, so I was dragging all day.  In fact, I watched a movie!  I’m not sure how I accomplished that one during the day, but I did.  Partly because Ben has become at least tolerable of some cuddling time now.  He used to push me away the second I tried to cuddle him, but now he’ll lay with me for thirty minutes or so if I give him a toy {or, shhhhhh, my cell phone – GASP!}.  Does that make me a briber?  Also partly due to this fabulous new SuperYard we got for FREE!  With FREE two-day shipping, no less!  How?  Swagbucks & Opinion Outpost!  I think I earned this money in three weeks.  How awesome is that?  These things are $60!

Anyway, on to the real point of this post: the playroom.  It’s done!  The only thing {CLEARLY} missing is part of the floor.  Look above and you’ll figure out why.  We have another 30 or so pieces outside, but it’s been raining for two days straight so I can’t get out there and clean them off.  Soon I’ll be able to replace the pieces on the floor.

Windows cleaned & dusted, baseboards, vents and shelving all dusted.  Floor swept and mopped, toys organized!  Check, check, check, check.  :)

I’m not going to pretend like I think this is some miraculous makeover, but I at least feel like things are organized.  I could really use a suggestion, though!  I want to fill the bottom two or three shelves with baskets or bins of some sort.  At $20 for two baskets, it would cost me $120 to fill the bottom two shelves or $180 to fill the bottom three!  Anyone have a better and more inexpensive idea for toy storage besides some mismatched cheap-o bins like I currently have?

So today I finished yesterday’s schedule, thus not finishing my planned schedule of the living room & guest bathroom.  I’m going to try to get to both tomorrow, but there’s a fat chance I won’t.  We’ll see.  I’m a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kinda gal.  Actually, I’m not.  Well, truth be told I’m not even quite sure what that means.  But it sounded appropriate for the situation.  I roll with the punches.  Is that better?  ;)

See you tomorrow!

check places like hobby lobby/michaels for baskets. they frequently go on major sales around here. and michaels has a "make your own sale" 40% off any one item coupon almost every week. and remember, you can always spray paint the baskets to the same color, even if they start out mismatched.

one other suggestion is the cube shaped "baskets". i know they sell them at target, perfect squares designed to fit into their square particleboard shelving.

lastly- check IKEA- they almost always have great/cheap storage stuff. if you don't have one nearby, check the website. we have one in charlotte, i can grab stuff if you need. (they frequently have things online that aren't available for online ordering, it just tells you which store it is in)

Check the dollar store. They usually have some baskets/bins for cheap that may fit your needs.

Otherwise, if you want super super cheap you can always buy a pack of office boxes (the white kinds with the lids) and some shelving paper. Just cover the boxes with the paper and then you have a custom made box. Not the most glamorous box, and, yes, a little ghetto, but it still works.

Thanks ladies!!! Sarah - I'd never even thought about using those 40% off coupons {and sometimes 50% off} and just going in over and over for a few weeks. :)
